Janie has been running her own school for 25 years. After training locally, she qualified as a teacher with the Royal Academy of Dancing (LRAD). Whilst working for Madeline Sharp, Janie continued her training with Ruth French. She also danced professionally during 1966-7. In addition, she served on the RAD's executive committee, and was Secretary/Treasurer for the Surrey Region. Qualified in (and has also taught) Body Mechanics Therapy since 2001.
Miss Farrance was a scholar with the RAD before joining Sadlers Wells - later the Royal Ballet Company, Covent Garden - under Dame Ninette de Valois. She taught scholars at the RAD whilst bringing up her children, and ran her own school in West Wickham. She examined for the RAD for 30 years.
Trained locally, and danced with the Black and White Minstrels before marriage and family took her away from professional dancing. She ran her own exercise class after gaining the YMCA RSA qualification.
Kate was a student at our school from the age of 7. She starred in the ballet Parky and passed her Grade 8 in 2003. She then attended The Centre Performing Arts College and is now a freelance dance teacher of Ballet, Tap and Modern. I am very happy to welcome her back as a teacher.
Following a BA Hons in Music at Nottingham University, Ian is now taking a Master of Music Performance Studies in Collaborative Piano at Trinity College of Music, Greenwich. He plans to become a professional accompanist on their staff whilst preparing a research application for a Doctoral study.
Akiko studied at Musashino University of Music in Tokyo before coming to the UK as a post graduate student at Trinity College of Music. She also teaches music, plays as a cocktail pianist and, of course, adores ballet.
Gareth is a professional accompanist to several local ballet schools. He enjoys competitive running and playing jazz.
