This page outlines what the basic building of your website would entail, followed by additional services that you may need, and then the portfolio. Other pages include more detailed technical and marketing information, and my contact details.
Coloured links like this throughout these pages will connect you to other related information. Guideline prices are included wherever possible to give you a sense of the overall costs involved. Please be aware that they are only approximate.
Construction
The specific process of building your site depends on your particular needs. Generally it entails creating design templates, transposing existing content (for example pictures, logos, text and information) into new formats, and close consultation with you.
You may also need a domain name and web hosting. Helping you to arrange this is part of the overall service; the additional costs payed externally are about £15/month for hosting, and roughly £5/year for www.your-website-name.co.uk. Website construction alone covers the minimum requirements for building a site from scratch. You may decide that you also need some of the additional work described next.
Some examples
Option 1
You have a clear idea of site structure, design and content. Your site has less than 10 pages, which all (roughly) follow one design template.
Cost: £500
Option 2
Your business has a strong (visual) brand identity, but it is not clear what content will give your online presence the greatest impact.
Cost: £750
Option 3
You know precisely how you want to structure your site, but have no current publicity materials/visual themes to work with.
Cost: £750
Graphic design
This is about whether or not you have an existing look that can be used for your site. If you already have flyers, posters, logos, fonts, colour schemes etc, and you would like to continue the same theme on your website, you will not need to consider any additional design costs.
Site effectiveness
This is about refining the objectives for your site, and developing, from what you want to do, precisely how best to do it (more details).
Additional work & updates
The additional cost of either of these services will depend both on the size of your site, and on how clear your ideas already are. The examples provide rough estimates; boxes two and three assume the site is of roughly the size described in box one.
Any ongoing work to sites that already exist would be charged at £20/hr or part-hour.
